I asked Elisa if she had any thoughts she could share for our women's blog and she sent this to me.
Thank you Elisa .. I love your thoughts.

“Two paths diverged in a wood and I,
I took the one less traveled by.
And that has made all the difference.”
{Robert Frost}

Life is a mystery.
I’ve been reading Sacred Romance by John Eldredge. Its absolutely fantastic. I totally suggest you read it.
Yes, you.
I wish I could condense all that I’ve read into a manageable blog post, but there’s SO much.
Basically, the book is talking about how life is a Sacred Romance between God and us. God is the author of everything, and He has written the BIG story of the entire history and future of man. We, especially as Americans today, try to condense it and make the story about US and our little lives. We pretend that we are the main character in the story and the center of the Universe. But, newsflash! its not about us. GOD is the author and the hero of this magnificent story. He is the beginning and the end, and we are privileged to be a part of it.
What a beautiful thought that I am not my first and last. And that decisions that I make (especially the dumb ones) aren’t the end of the world.
Because its not about me.
Its about Him.
And yet, the hero of the story, in all His power and glory, pursues the damsel in distress (me). He sent His son, Jesus Christ, to pay the price for my freedom. And He loves me, though I stray. We are the adulteress wife from the book of Hosea, constantly going back to our sin and our disgrace. And God, like the gentle Hosea, loves us still and calls us back to His safe arms.
“Oh, to grace how great a debtor
Daily I’m constrained to be.
Let thy goodness,
Like a fetter
Bind my wandering heart to thee.
Prone to wander, Lord I feel it,
Prone to leave the God I love.
Here’s my heart
Oh take and seal it.
Seal it for thy courts above.”
And this is our story. An eternal story. Starting at the beginning of time. How glorious that I can stand side by side in the battle with heroes such as Amy Carmichael and Jim Elliot. And I can count myself, being under the blood of Christ, as part of the journey with Watchman Nee, Billy Graham and even apostles Peter, John and Paul!
I am not condensed into my own little story.
I am part of a journey of a lifetime.
A battle of epic proportions.
And a life centered on the Author and Hero of it all.
So when I start to feel the pressures of life enfold me, I remember that this is only a smidgen of the tale. Only a breath.
But what I do for the Kingdom of God will last forever.
I remember faith, hope and love.
Courage.
Joy.
The sacrifices desired.
The love given.
We can’t understand because we aren’t the authors.
We can’t know what will happen, but we can serve the Author and follow His guide.
“The Sacred Romance is not something to be managed but to be lived. We cannot remove the element of mystery from the road before us nor can we eliminate the dangers. But we can learn from the Pilgrims who have gone before something of the roads and conditions, the weather, the hazards and the places of rest and refreshment.”
The Sacred Romance, John Eldredge and Brent Curtis
Life is not a problem to be solved.
Its an adventure to be lived.
A God given adventure.
I am so thankful for my Lord. A Lord who is wild, dangerous, unfettered and free, but so very very good.
